Port Authority and Security
The port authority for the ports operated by Niedersachsen Ports is Department 43.3 in Division 43 of the Lower Saxony State Authority for Road Construction and Transport. Its tasks include:
- averting of danger in connection with port and maritime shipping affairs
- monitoring the transport of dangerous goods within the ports
- granting of exceptions for the waste removal of ships
Division 31.3 of Niedersachsen's Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Construction and Digitization is responsible for the safety and security of ports and port facilities (Port Security).
Niedersachsen Ports supports in this regard also by non-owned port areas through administrational tasks.
